Today, my thoughts are on 4 police officers that were killed while sitting in a coffee shop in the state of Washington. A person who was out on a $15 thousand bail through a bails bondman, which in Louisiana this would be about $1,850.00 for raping a 12 year old girl and also had a criminal history, walked in the coffee shop and ambushed 4 police officers. These 4 police officers leave behind their families, friends, and co-workers to mourn. This person was killed as he resisted police today while they were attempting to make the arrest.
Jails are not made just to punish the offender but also to protect the law abiding citizens. What protection do we have when police officers do their jobs and make an arrest just so that a judge can let them out on some cheap amount bail?
Something needs to be said....done...something.
